PLEASE REMEMBER: These payment standards presume that all utility costs are included in the rent (except telephone). When you find a unit you must determine what utilities you have to pay for and add the appropriate allowance to the rent to determine if the unit will qualify for the program.
EXAMPLE : You find a suitable 2 bedroom apartment and the rent is $610 per month. In addition, you as the Tenant must pay for the electricity expenses (for lighting and cooking purposes). You would then check the utility allowance schedule and discover that on a monthly basis, the cost of these utilities is $40.00 (that is, electricity cost of $28.00, electric cooking cost of $9.00 and air conditioning cost of $3.00). Consequently,

$660.00 is below the payment standard for a 2 bedroom of $662.00 allowed; therefore this apartment would qualify for rental assistance. If the unit is in St. Cloud, it needs to be a registered rental unit with the City. The rental unit will need to pass inspection before we will make assistance payments.
Lease papers for a new unit must be turned in by 4:00 p.m. the 15th day of the month before the lease goes into effect. If the 15th falls on a holiday, Saturday or Sunday, you will have to the following business day to turn in your necessary paperwork. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS POLICY. The rental unit will need to pass inspection before we will make assistance payments.
